本周我们来学习与交谈与表达相关的词汇。
1. nosy /'nəʊzɪ/
adj. 爱管闲事的词汇焦头烂额;喜欢打听的;八卦的;
搭配:be/ get nosy about …
e.g. The press is often too nosy about a celebrity's personal history.
e.g. The nosy journalist dug up information that wasn't meant to be public.
syn. gossipy 喜欢说长道短的
The gossipy magazine was filled with rumors about celebrities.
2. articulate /ɑː'tɪkjʊlət/
adj. 善于表达的;口齿伶俐的
e.g. One benefit of reading is that it helps to broaden our vocabulary, so we get to become more articulate.
e.g. The professor is known for his articulate lectures, which are always engaging and informative.
补充:engaging 吸引人的
v. 清楚地表达思想或感情
搭配:articulate feelings / thoughts / ideas
e.g. She struggled to articulate her feelings during the emotional conversation.
e.g. Despite being nervous, he managed to articulate his ideas well during the interview.
3. welcoming /ˈwɛlkəmɪŋ/
adj. 热情的;友好的
e.g. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming.
e.g. The mom-and-pop shop is known for its welcoming staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home.
mom-and-pop shop 夫妻经营的店
make sb. feel at home 使某人宾至如归
get out of your way to do sth. 非常努力做某事
adj. 建筑物或房间舒适的,惬意的解析走南闯北
e.g. The restaurant is small and bright and very welcoming.
4. tongue-tied /ˈtʌŋˌtaɪd/
adj. (因害羞、紧张等)张口结舌的雅思,说不出话的词汇
e.g. While giving the presentation, I was tongue-tied and couldn't remember what she was going to say.
e.g. She was tongue-tied with excitement when she received the award.

speechless adj. (因惊讶)一时语塞的
be lost for words 不知道说什么;说不出话来
补充:leave sb. speechless / lost for words
e.g. The breathtaking view left her lost for words.
e.g. I was so touched by their kindness that I was lost for words.
e.g. The news left us speechless.
